Day 12: Money and Mindset – How My View on Money Has Evolved

Growing up, I learnt, both directly and indirectly, that money was the ultimate problem solver. It was the answer to needs, desires, emergencies, and comfort. That belief shaped much of my early mindset: if you had money, most of life’s issues could be managed or even eliminated. So I chased it, valued it, and respected those who had it.

But adulthood, and especially the realities of living in today’s Nigeria, has taught me something deeper. Money is no longer just a solution; it’s a system. It doesn't just fix things, it opens doors. It grants access, builds networks, and, in many cases, determines your level of influence in society.

Now, my mindset has shifted from simply having money to exchanging value for it. I’ve come to see money as a reward, not just a need. If you want sustainable income, you must first offer something meaningful, skills, services, solutions, or insights. Power and authority often follow those who know how to consistently create and exchange value.

My view of money today? It’s not just a currency. It’s a consequence—of mindset, of discipline, and of strategic value creation.
