A Legislature That Betrayed Taraba : Wilson Impact.
The 24 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly have not just failed but they have openly betrayed the people of Taraba State. Their collective weakness has become a stamp of approval on the failures of the current administration.

A legislature is not elected to clap for the governor. It is not elected to look away while the people suffer. It is not elected to operate as an extension of the executive. Yet, that is exactly what the Taraba State House of Assembly has reduced itself to a rubber stamp, a silent accomplice, a willing tool.

These lawmakers, who swore an oath to defend the interests of the people, have instead chosen to defend power. They have abandoned their duty to question, to challenge, and to demand accountability. Not once have they shown the courage to ask the hard questions or stand firm on behalf of the masses they represent. Their silence is no longer ignorance it is deliberate, calculated, and shameful.

Worst of all is the conduct of the leadership of the House. The Speaker, who should be the symbol of legislative authority and independence, has reduced the dignity of that office to that of a personal assistant to the governor. This is not leadership it is submission. It is a disgrace to democratic governance.

A legislative Assembly that cannot check the excesses of the executive is useless to the people. When lawmakers become handkerchiefs in the hands of power, they wipe away the voices of the citizens they were elected to protect.

Let it be said clearly that the failure of these 24 legislators is not separate from the failure of governance in Taraba but it is the reason for it. Their inaction fuels bad leadership. Their silence enables poor governance. Their loyalty to one man over millions of citizens is a betrayal that history will not forget.

Taraba State deserves fighters, not followers. Leaders, not loyalists. Representatives, not errand boys.

Until this culture of cowardice and complicity is confronted, the people of Taraba will continue to pay the price for a legislature that chose comfort over courage.
