Day 16: Books, Podcasts & Knowledge – What Shaped My Thinking

Outside of life's experiences and personal challenges, books have had an undeniable influence on the shaping of my mind and, by extension, my life. While I’ve read many titles over the years, the Bible remains the most foundational, perhaps because I was introduced to it from childhood. Its stories, principles, and perspectives echo in how I think, relate with others, and make decisions.

There’s something transformative about reading. The more you read, the more your mind expands, you become aware of realities and ideas you were previously ignorant of. Books do more than inform; they shift paradigms.

From personal development classics like The 48 Laws of Power and The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* (forget the name you should read it 😅🌚🤌🏾), to thought-provoking design reads like Think Like an Artist, The Design of Everyday Things, and the current one I'm reading on my system "Don't Make Me Think" I’ve discovered worlds I never knew existed. These books haven’t just taught me skills; they’ve shaped how I approach creativity, discipline, strategy, and problem-solving.

And it's no coincidence that I studied Library and Information Science, a field deeply rooted in knowledge, learning, and information access. It further deepened my appreciation for the power of reading and the value of being informed. Whether it’s through books, travel, conversations, or even podcasts, exposure to knowledge has consistently added depth to my thinking and clarity to my purpose.

So, when I reflect on who I am becoming, outside of family background or life experiences, it is clear that the knowledge I’ve intentionally pursued has played a defining role. The books I've read, the insights I've absorbed, and the ideas I've wrestled with have all shaped me in ways I’m still discovering.
